Allen gardens pond is new and improved (i.e. it has water again)

new pondIf you’ve been around the Allen Centennial Gardens recently you’ve likely noticed piles of rocks, machinery noise. And  and—if that didn’t deter you from taking a tour, you saw that the pond was dry. No more. The pond reconstruction that began three weeks ago is done, garden director Ed Lyon reports.

The old pond had to go, Lyon says. “I have always hated the appearance, due to (it having been) constructed originally by a swimming pool company.” It has now been reconstructed into a “real pond” with rock sides and bottom (the old one had a pool-style lining) and a bio-filter.

More info and pics of the projects are available at the ACG Facebook page.
