Women, Feminism, and Sustainable Peace-Building: April 24

The Human Rights Program is pleased to invite you to the following event:“The Keys are Right in Front of You: Women, Feminism, and Sustainable Peace-Building”  with Dr. Teresa Langle de Paz and Dr. Araceli Alonso on Thursday, April 24, noon –1:30pm, Global Health Institute, 1010 Medical Sciences Center (1300 University Ave.).

Langle de Paz is the founder and co-director of Women’s Knowledge International (WKI), at the Foundation for a Culture of Peace. WKI is a global educational feminist program to prompt large scope multi-sectorial initiatives. It is currently promoting actions on gender based violence, health and development, and peace and democracy building in MENA, Great Lakes region in Africa, and in Latin America.

Araceli Alonso is an Associate Faculty at the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies and at the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She began work on the award-winning project Health by Motorbike in 2009, and received the United Nations Public Service Award for Gender, Health and Development in 2013.
