Wisconsin dairy farmers who are waiting for a safe time to spread manure are seeing red. That’s if they’re visiting www.manureadvisorysystem.wi.gov, a DNR website created by a team in CALS to help farmers spot the times when it’s safe to spread manure on the land. A good bit of the state is red, indicating there’s a high risk of runoff right now due to the melting of the winters’ near-record snowpack.
Two of the three developers of the website—web developer Rick Wayne and researcher Laura Ward Good, both in soil science—talked about the project with CALS podcaster Sevie Kenyon. This entry was posted in Highlights by . Bookmark the permalink.
