We are writing to announce a Call for Proposals for courses to meet the CALS Freshman Seminar Requirement. Please share this information widely with faculty, instructional staff, and others engaged in teaching first-year courses. The deadline for proposals is Friday, March 7. Proposals received after the deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
In 2011 CALS began requiring that all students take a freshman seminar. The Center for the First-Year Experience is pleased to partner with CALS to facilitate the Freshman Seminar Committee that reviews course proposals and makes determinations about courses that will count for the requirement. Criteria for the CALS Freshman Seminar Requirement can be found here.
To submit a course for consideration, please prepare the following information: 1) a current course syllabus, 2) a statement of how the course meets the criteria, and 3) contact information for the course coordinator. Proposals should be submitted using this online form.
For questions regarding the criteria or submission process, contact Megan Schmid, Assistant Director, Center for the First-Year Experience (265-3079, firstname.lastname@example.org).This entry was posted in Teaching & Advising by . Bookmark the permalink.
