Don Johnson, Professor Emeritus, Community and Environmental Sociology, died on Oct. 17 at the age of 83.
In his 35 years as a faculty member, Don made a host of important contributions to his department, the UW campus, and the state as a whole. Much of his early research focused on farm organizations, farmer participation in those organizations, and their relationship to farm policy. Don’s later research focused on community structure and change, where he provided leadership throughout the state in assisting county extension agents and their local leaders in conducting surveys to learn more about their communities. Altogether, Don worked in more than 75 communities throughout Wisconsin. This entry was posted in Milestones by . Bookmark the permalink.
