The Academic Staff Professional Development Grant Program (http://acstaff.wisc.edu/academic-staff-professional-development-grants.htm) administered by UW-Madison, is offered to all UW-Madison academic staff members who hold at least a 50 percent appointment. The grants are for professional development activities beginning January 1st, 2014 – June 30th, 2014.
These grants are intended for professional development or training to improve the effectiveness of academic staff members in their current roles. The funds are not intended for basic job training or for job requirements. To be eligible for this grant, applicants must not have received funding in the previous two rounds of competition (Spring 2013 or Fall 2012). Please encourage academic staff to consult either Inside UW-Madison, or the website listed above for additional information on the Academic Staff Professional Development Grant Program.
Deadlines for this fall’s competition:
- Submit application electronically to Department Chair or unit head — Oct 25 http://apps.ohr.wisc.edu/staffdev/Default.aspx
- Department Chair or unit head approval — Nov 1
- CALS CASI reviews applications Nov 4-13, with ranked list of applications forward for Dean’s approval
- Dean sends ranked applications to Secretary of the Academic Staff — Nov 15
Units are expected to match the Professional Development Grant funds awarded by the committee. If budget constraints prevent departments from contributing their share of the funding, please inform staff before they begin working on a grant application.
