Field to Foodbank and AgrAbility featured on Big Ten Network this week

Two great outreach programs with CALS roots will be featured this week on the Big Ten Network. The Field to Foodbank program and AgrAbility will be featured on the UW-produced Forward Motion on Tuesday night at 8:30 CDT. Go here to see the teaser.

In Field to Foodbank, Wisconsin farmers are sending surplus vegetables—in canned form—to the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, preventing tons and tons of nutrient-rich vegetables from going to waste.  Jed Colquhoun, professor of horticulture, helped work out the logistics of the arrangement.

AgrAbility of Wisconsin, housed in the Ag Engineering Building at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a partnership between the UW Cooperative Extension Service and Easter Seals Wisconsin. It provides resources to farmers with disabilities who want to continue farming.
