Jerry Guenther, 2013 recipient of the J.S. Donald Short Course Teaching Award
This year, Jerry Guenther was honored with a J.S. Donald Short Course Teaching Award.
Described as the “resident expert in teaching reproductive management of dairy cattle, dairy records analysis and practical dairy herd management practices,” Jerry has made great contributions to the Farm and Industry Short Course.
Jerry’s ability to adjust his teaching style to fit the needs of students has been useful in courses in which students have varying degrees of knowledge of the subject and different ways of learning.
He has demonstrated innovation in developing and improving his courses that are designed to prepare students for the practical implementation of breeding and dairy farm management.
One student said, “Few people display the enthusiasm that Jerry does in the classroom.”
