UW Cooperative Extension receives AgSource Friend of the Cooperative award
AgSource Cooperative Services proudly recognizes the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension as the 2013 Friend of the Cooperative. Dr. John Shutske, AgSource Ex Officio Board Member and Associate Dean and Program Director for Extension and Outreach in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, accepted the award at the AgSource Annual Meeting in Bloomington, Minn., March 27.
“UW-Extension has been and continues to be a true friend of AgSource Cooperative Services, the dairy industry and Wisconsin agriculture,” said Pat Baier, Chief Operating Officer for AgSource. “As we recognize and honor the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension, we also tip our hat to the many, many individuals who comprise the organization past and present.”
From the invention of the Babcock butterfat test in 1890 to the first county extension agent in 1912 to current education programs in the field and Ex Officio representation on AgSource’s Board of Directors, our organizations have been closely intertwined. During the past century, no organization has advanced the dairy industry or the use of AgSource’s basic services more than UW-Extension, Cooperative Extension.
This award honors a non-member individual or an organization that has contributed to, supported, and helped strengthen AgSource, its services, and the dairy industry as a whole.
