Well over 100 CALS faculty and staff members attended the All-CALS meeting on Dec. 18. Dean VandenBosch began by presenting a CALS situation and outlook report. She discussed faculty positions and undergrad enrollment, which in the past 10 years has jumped by a whopping 45 percent to a new record of 3,059. That surge has mirrored a steady climb in majors in biological sciences, including the biology major.
For the rest of the meeting participants broke into small groups to talk about proposed themes being developed as part of the CALS strategic plan. The draft themes that attendees discussed were: bioenergy systems, climate change, economic and community development, environmental stewardship, food and fiber, and human health.
