The One Acre Fund UW-Madison Chapter, a new student organization that seeks to support agricultural development in Africa, will hold a kickoff event on World Food Day, Oct. 16, at 4:30pm in 351 Moore Hall. In addition to snacks and refreshments, the event will feature talks by ag economist Jeremy Foltz and plant breeder Phil Simon about their experiences in the field of international development.
The One Acre Fund (OAF) is a non-profit that helps subsistence farmers in Africa boost their agricultural yields and income. OAF’s new UW-Madison Chapter seeks to mobilize students and raise awareness about hunger, rural poverty, microfinance, social enterprise and other issues that are pivotal to improving the lives of farmers in Africa and beyond.
Interested students are encouraged to come to the kickoff, join the organization and help shape it by providing ideas, insight and action. This entry was posted in Teaching & Advising by email@example.com. Bookmark the permalink.
