David Spooner has been selected to receive the 2012 Frank N. Meyer Medal for Plant Genetic Resources Award. Spooner is a Research Botanist in the USDA Agricultural Research Service, with an appointment as Professor in the CALS Department of Horticulture. His research program focuses on the collection and taxonomy of wild and cultivated potatoes and outgroups in tomato and related Solanum (and recently of carrots) using an integrated approach of morphological studies and DNA marker and DNA sequence data.This entry was posted in Awards and honors by .
