David Drake, Jamie Nack and Scott Craven, extension specialists in the CALS forest and wildlife ecology department, received the 2011 Donald R. Peterson Technology Transfer Award for their Wildlife on the Farm exhibit at the 2011 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days. The award was presented at the annual Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Board of Directors meeting in April 2012.
The Wildlife on the Farm exhibit includes a wildlife identification quiz and wildlife specimens for people to see, touch and ask about. Through the use of wild bird and mammal specimens, visitors to the display can improve their identification skills and make wildlife watching more fun and more productive. Visitors can also learn how to attract desirable wildlife and minimize wildlife damage to crops, landscapes and buildings.
