The frontlines of fighting hunger: Bettina Luescher, UN food program offical and former CNN reporter, visits campus March 8-9

CALS International Programs is co-sponsoring a campus visit by Bettina Luescher, World Food Programme Chief Spokesperson for North America, on March 8 and 9.

Since joining the World Food Programme in 2004, Bettina Luescher has worked in crisis areas around the globe, including Darfur, Afghanistan, Gaza, Guatemala, Haiti, Kenya and the Tsunami regions of Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Luescher worked for 15 years as an anchor, reporter and field producer for CNN International, based in Atlanta, Frankfurt and Berlin. As a member of CNN’s 2002 investigative team, she won first place in the National Headliner Award for ‘Attack on America – 9/11.

Ms. Luescher has a master’s degree in political science from UW-Madison, and has won two Fulbright Scholarships.
