Research software licenses through CALS

CALS IT is currently working on a project (with Engineering, Grad School and DoIT) to run a central service for some research software titles, aiming at cutting costs of the software itself by bulk purchases of concurrent licenses and reducing the number of redundant license servers run by the various departments and individual research groups. Access will be to CALS faculty, staff, and research students through NetID authentication.

The initial offering, probably within a month or so, will include SigmaPlot and MatLab, with other titles to follow. Anyone planning to upgrade to SigmaPlot v12, recently released, may choose to wait to see if this CALS concurrent license service meets their need. Those who require a stand-alone version of SigmaPlot v12 are encouraged to contact Chris Hopp, DoIT Licensing, for discount pricing.
