2010 Dairy Science Golf Classic on May 19
The dairy science department will hold its annual Dairy Science Golf Classic fundraising event on Wednesday, May 19 at the Bridges Golf Course in Madison.
The Golf Classic uses a scramble format, where each team member plays the ball closest to the hole after each shot. The event is open to the public. A registration fee of $100 per golfer pays for 18 holes of golf, cart rental, free lunch and lots of prizes. Pre-registration is advised, but day-of-event registrations will be accepted.
All proceeds support the dairy science department’s scholarships and dairy judging and dairy challenge teams. Last years outing raised nearly $30,000 for those programs.
“It’s a great way to socialize and have fun, but more importantly, the event benefits our students. This is an opportunity to invest in the future of the dairy industry,” says Ric Grummer, dairy science department chairman.
Sponsorships are encouraged. Individuals or companies can support the event at one of three levels: “Legacy” ($5,000, enough to fund a full scholarship), “Chancellor’s Club” ($2,500), or “Dean’s Club” ($1,000), Another option is to sponsor a hole for $250 or $600 (the latter includes a team registration for four golfers).
There will be both a silent and live auction, featuring a variety of dairy-related items and sports memorabilia. Donations of auction items are welcome. Items should have a minimum real value of $25 for the silent auction and $100 for the live auction.
Contributions beyond the actual cost of the golf or any auction item are tax deductible as allowed by law.
