National FFA opportunity for collegiate farmers and ranchers

National FFA has an excellent program for your college students who are interested in returning to the farm or ranch after college. The New Century Farmer program is specifically designed for college students or recent graduates (student who graduated this past August or December) who come from a production agriculture background, and plan to return to the farm or ranch to pursue production agriculture as a career. Each year we select fifty of agriculture’s best to be part of this week long conference. Selected participants will partake in numerous learning sessions on topics ranging from farm succession, global agriculture, ag marketing and finance, to new and emerging farm machinery. Additionally participants will take part in numerous field and operation tours and participate in an extensive team building experience.

Through the generous contributions of our sponsors, this conference is FREE for the 50 students who are selected. The 2010 conference will be July 19-24, 2010 in Johnston, IA. Again applicants must be:
– Enrolled or a recent graduate of an agriculture college or university
– Have a background in production agriculture
– Plan to return to production agriculture as a career after college

Applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2010 and can be found at I have attached an informational flyer about the conference. Please pass this information on to any of your students who might be interested in this program.
