Throughout September and October 2009 we will be conducting How to Purchase Goods and Services at UW-Madison workshops. These sessions will take place at 21 N. Park St. in Room 5045 in the morning of each day. Please note that free Bus Route 85 stops directly in front of the building.

September 29 morning session from 8:30-11:45
This session will focus on common methods for purchases under $5000. It is ideal for campus staff that routinely complete these types of transactions and/or those that are new to the University.
How to Purchase Goods and Services at UW-Madison: Using MDS E-Commerce and SWAP
October 1 morning session from 8:30-11:45
This workshop looks at specific examples highlighting the most efficient and cost effective way to purchase common items using UW-Madison’s E-Commerce operation. It is ideal for staff new to the University and/or campus staff ordering office supplies, lab supplies, maintenance supplies, lab gases, and/or computers as a part of their duties. Also includes an overview of using the Pre-Posting Allocation Tool (PAT) to reallocate funding for MDS purchases.
How to Purchase Goods and Services at UW-Madison: Intermediate Topics
October 21 morning session from 8:30-11:45
This session will focus on purchases over $5000 and some of the more complex purchasing processes. It is ideal for those that already have a basic understanding of the purchasing process and methods, but are looking for additional knowledge or are responsible for assisting with and/or preparing some of the larger purchases in their departments, or as a refresher for staff already assisting in this capacity.
Processing Requisitions and Managing your PO Encumbrances
October 27 morning session from 8:30-11:45
This session will focus on an in depth explanation of the requisition and PO and encumbrance management processes. It is ideal for campus staff generating and submitting either form as part of their duties.
