How to handle NIH ARRA Supplements and No-cost Extensions

RSP is authorized to approve the first no-cost extension on an NIH award issued under expanded authorities (FDP). However, it is not possible to enter the extension in NIH Commons until 90 days before the end of the grant. So, how should individuals handle applying for Administrative Supplements when the end date is after June 30, 2009?

Per Marcia Hahn, Director, Division of Grants Policy, OPERA/NIH, NIH advises individuals to prepare the administrative supplement with the expected extension in mind. Include in the application your intent to request and execute a no-cost extension through the eRA Commons Extension feature during the 90-day window prior to award end date.
