CALS students learn about leadership

During the weekend of January 16—18, a group of CALS students traveled to Camp Waubeek for the annual CALS Leadership Retreat. At the retreat, students learned about leadership styles, their own leadership strengths, the ethics of leadership and productive communication strategies. In addition, students developed a project that could improve the campus or Madison community. Each year, a few of the projects developed at the retreat are implemented in the college.

The 2009 retreat was made possible by generous donations from the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) and Land O’Lakes, as well as support from the CALS Undergraduate Programs and Services Office.

The CALS Student Council planned and organized this event. Robin Schroll, Michelle Brenner, and Tanya Zimmerman (all past retreat participants) in particular contributed their time and energy to make the retreat a success.
