Requesting a no-cost extension requires consideration of your budget, personnel, and of course, effort. In order to cover a PI’s effort commitment in a period of extension, we have added a paragraph into the request addressing whether the effort will remain that same or be reduced.
Normally, it is assumed that a PI’s effort will remain the same during an award extension. In many instances, a PI devotes less time to the project if most of the objectives have been met. A no-cost extension request is the perfect time to alter and effort commitment. Please view the attached document to see how effort is addressed in CALS’ new template.
