Nominate an outstanding Badger for WAA’s Distinguished Alumni Award by Sept. 30

The Wisconsin Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its highest honor: the Distinguished Alumni Award. WAA will honor the recipients at its 73rd annual awards program on April 23, 2009 for their professional achievements, contributions to society and support of the university. The nominations deadline is Sept. 30, 2008.

This award will honor four alumni who meet the following criteria:

  • Nominees must be alumni of UW-Madison.
  • Ideally, each nominee has demonstrated service to the UW through its alumni organizations, academic divisions or committees.
  • Each must have achieved prominence in his or her field.
  • Each must be able to accept the award in person at the Alumni Awards dinner

A list of former recipients of the award and other useful information for nominators is posted online at

To nominate a candidate, download a nomination form and submit it with your letter of nomination and a biographical sketch or a resume are required for each nomination. If you wish, you may also include supporting documentation such as magazine or newspaper articles about the nominee and citations from other awards they have received.

Preference will be given to those who are, in addition to the above, members of WAA and/or contributors to the UW Foundation. Self-nomination, or being nominated by a spouse or close relative, is generally not a successful nomination strategy. The Distinguished Alumni Awards will be presented in Madison on April 23, 2009.
