Emeritus Professor Robert Cropp of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics is the 2008 recipient of the CALS Distinguished Service Award.
The 2008 Honorary Recognition Awards go to James Behnke, Incline Village, Nevada, Linda Bochert, Madison, Pete Giacomini, Verona, and Richard Renk, Sun Prairie.
James Behnke retired as the Senior Vice President of Technology at The Pillsbury Company. He is an alumni of the U.W.-Madison Food Science Department. Linda Bochert served for eleven years in top management at DNR, she spent two years running the Attorney General’s environmental unit, and has been a partner in the environmental law practice at Michael Best & Friedrich for 17 years. Pete Giacomini graduated from the U.W.-Madison Department of Dairy Science and is the Chief Operating Officer of AgSource Cooperative Services.
Richard Renk is a graduate of the Meat and Animal Science Department at U.W.-Madison
and has worked for the Renk Seed Company since 1961, holding most of the executive posts and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.
Robert Cropp is a graduate of U.W. Platteville and U.W.-Madison in Agricultural Economics. He served the U.W. Platteville as Professor of Agricultural Economics and Dean. During his tenure in the Agricultural and Applied Economics Department on the Madison campus he also served as Director of the University of Wisconsin Center for Cooperatives.
Honorary Recognition and the Distinguished Service Award are the highest honors bestowed on individuals by the UW College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Both awards are to be presented at the Honorary Recognition Banquet and Reception, Thursday, October 23. Watch for more information.
