Paid leave of absence for Red Cross disaster assistance

Governor Doyle has declared a State of Emergency for Southern Wisconsin. Due to this declaration, the Governor has authorized all state agencies to grant paid leaves of absence to permanent state employees who are assisting the Red Cross in specialized disaster services resulting from the recent flooding.

In order to qualify, the employee must meet the following conditions:

  • The employee is a certified disaster service volunteer of the American Red Cross.
  • The American Red Cross has submitted a written request to the employee’s appointing authority for the services of the employee. The request shall also specify who has requested the assistance of the American Red Cross in the particular disaster.
  • If you do have such a request within your department, please let CALS Human Resources know. The Governor has requested that this information be captured and we need to provide it to him.
