WPT looks at issues related to Wisconsin’s Mexican dairy workers — April 24 and 27

On this weeks edition of “In Wisconsin,” on Wisconsin Public Television Thursday, April 24, 2008, 7:00 pm (repeats Sunday, April 27, at noon) Fredericka Freyberg interviews dairy farmer John Rosenow about migrant labor in dairy country. From the episode description: Wisconsin dairy farmers are increasingly relying on Mexican labor to get the job done. Farmers say they have a hard time finding enough locals to do the milking, but workers from Mexico are eager to work. Recent state surveys show 40 percent of dairy farms would go out of business without the thousands of Mexican workers currently in Wisconsin. Farmers who employ the Mexican workers, however, worry about whether the federal immigration service will raid their farms, finding workers who are not legally documented.
