At the direction of Chancellor John Wiley, UW-Madison is seeking accreditation of its Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). A site visit has been scheduled for the week of September 24, 2007. The site visitors will interview investigators, research coordinators, IRB members and staff, and UW-Madison officials and review UW-Madison’s program operations.
The HRPP includes the campus’ four Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) – the Health Sciences IRB, Health Sciences Minimal Risk IRB, Social and Behavioral Sciences IRB, and Education Research IRB.
The accrediting agency is the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP*), a non- profit organization founded by educational and research associations.
Before submitting its accreditation application in December 2006, the UW-Madison wrote and revised human subjects policies and procedures, investigator guidance and forms. The updated policies, guidance and forms have been posted on the Human Research Protection Program website at http://www.grad.wisc.edu/research/compliance/humansubjects/index.htm
