Governor Doyle has appointed Kenneth Shapiro to the Wisconsin International Trade Council. Shapiro is the College’s associate dean for international programs. The council advises the governor and the secretaries for the Department of Commerce and the DATCP on the states role in the development of international trade.
The council studies how federal policies affect Wisconsin business and how state policies could increase incentives for international trade. It also looks at the trade services the state now provides and those that need to be developed. It is also directed to develop procedures to integrate public and private export services, develop an annual International Trade Development Plan, identify markets for trade development, encourage public and private cooperative trade programs, develop educational programs on international trade, and create grant programs to support expansion of foreign trade by Wisconsin businesses. This entry was posted in Recognition by jsindelar.
