The Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University at Bonn will offer two short-term scholarships for the summer 2007 to University of Wisconsin-Madison advanced graduate students who wish to follow an independent research program under the guidance of a senior faculty member.
There are two two-month summer stipends available. Dissertators are preferred; however, graduate students who have not yet passed preliminary examinations for the Ph.D. will be considered. The scholarship is not tenable for use after a terminal Masters Degree.
The scholarships pay fees at Bonn and provide a maintenance allowance of approximately 975 Euro per month for two months for a PhD level candidate, and 700 Euro per month for two months for an MA level candidate. The fee waiver covers registration, examinations and tuition at Bonn. The maintenance allowance may need to be supplemented by personal funds to cover the expenses of travel, accommodations, meals, books and incidentals.
Interested candidates should apply to the Fellowships Office, 328 Ingraham Hall. Application deadline is Noon on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Please email Erin Crawley as soon as possible if you are thinking of applying. The application must include a one to two-page summary statement describing the research to be pursued at Bonn in the summer, an up to date curriculum vitae, a letter of support from the major advisor endorsing the candidacy, plus one other letter of support, and undergraduate and graduate transcripts (these can be copies of official transcripts, as long as they are clearly legible). Candidates accepted for the Bonn scholarship will need to provide a copy of their high school diploma to Bonn.
