New web-based system should help in meeting Feb. 5 NIH grants deadline

The UW has purchased a Web-based Grants.gov system called Cayuse424 that is MUCH easier to use than the Grants.gov PureEdge tool. It will be available for use in submitting NIH applications for the February 5 deadline. Campus is in the process of implementing Cayuse now.

Cayuse has two parts:

  1. a set of templates that will simplify the creation of Research Plans and BioSketches (to be available this month).
  2. web tools for preparing the full proposal (to be available mid-December).

To be ready to use Cayuse, be aware of the following:

  • You’ll need a UW-Madison NetID and password to log on to the Cayuse system. If you do not have one, get it now (at www.mynetid.wisc.edu/activate ).
  • Make sure your name, office address, office phone, and email address are correct in the campus directory. (Check at www.wisc.edu/wiscinfo/directories/ .) This information will load automatically into the Cayuse system.
  • If you do not have an NIH Commons ID, contact Casey at clhillmer@cals.wisc.edu. You MUST have an NIH Commons ID to submit to NIH.

Stay tuned. Research division staff will let you know as soon as the Cayuse templates and web tools are available. Training opportunities will be scheduled as soon as we have access to the system.
