CALS Wellness Committee tip: Get your bike ready to ride this spring
This message was sent by the University Bicycle Resource Center:
University Bicycle Resource Center’s next bicycle maintenance class, “Annual Maintenance and Chain Cleaning – Virtual,” will be on Tuesday, March 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Keep your bike running smoothly throughout the year. You will learn and practice best techniques for cleaning and lubricating your chain and other routine maintenance. You can have your bike handy to follow along or you can just watch. Free class taught by India Viola, local bicycle advocate and educator.
Registration is required, and there is no attendee cap. Once you are approved by the host, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the session. If you miss the class, a recording of this class should be available after the event.
A Youtube playlist of recordings of all past virtual classes is available. You can also see a list of planned spring/summer classes with registration links.
The shop itself will continue to be closed for the spring semester out of an abundance of caution due to the high number of touch points and in an effort to try to limit the spread of COVID-19. The center has high hopes to hire new staff for fall 2021 and be able to reopen then for drop-in DIY bike work. In the meantime you can still perform DIY bicycle repairs at outdoor air and repair stations located throughout campus (see the map).
