Genetics professor John Doebley has been selected to become the next chair of the Laboratory of Genetics, which includes the School of Medicine and Public Health’s Department of Medical Genetics and the CALS’ Department of Genetics, effective January 1, 2015.
Doebley received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by post-doctoral fellowship training at North Carolina State University. After serving on the faculty at Texas A&M and the University of Minnesota, he was recruited back to UW-Madison in 1999.
John is an internationally renowned scientist and a member of the National Academy of Science as well as past president of the American Genetic Association. He is also a deeply respected teacher and mentor. It is clear that his vision for the department builds on its historic strengths with an eye towards the future.
He is taking over the role from Michael Culbertson, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to the department. This entry was posted in Milestones by mccusky2. Bookmark the permalink.
