This past Friday, CALS hosted a “fermentation celebration” to thank David Ryder, vice president of research and brewing at MillerCoors, for the recent gift of three fermentation tanks. The event took place in the Microbial Sciences Building’s Kikkoman Fermentation Laboratory, which also houses a complete set of pilot-scale brewing equipment donated by MillerCoors in 2008.
The gifts are designed to help CALS establish a top-notch brewing and fermentation science curriculum in the near future. The courses will hit hard on science, says Ryder, and prepare students for jobs in any of the state’s various fermentation industries—from beer to cheese to bioenergy. This entry was posted in Around CALS, Teaching & Advising by firstname.lastname@example.org.
