Cancelled: Lunch and Learn talk on microaggressions
Update (Jan. 26): Unfortunately, due to our speaker having to cancel, the first talk of the CALS Equity and Diversity Committee’s Lunch and Learn series has been cancelled. An announcement will be sent out once the talk has been rescheduled.
The CALS Equity and Diversity Committee is excited to announce the first talk of its Spring 2017 Lunch and Learn series:
“Did you really just say that? Identifying and Responding to Microaggressions”
Speaker: Gabe Javier, LGBT Campus Center
Date: Friday, January 27, 2017, 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
Location: 1420 Microbial Sciences Building
Microaggressions are often unintentional, everyday, verbal and nonverbal slights or insults that communicate negative messages about or to a group of marginalized people. In this presentation, participants will discuss microaggressions and their cumulative impact on targeted populations, and learn ways to interrupt and address microaggressions in different contexts.
Members of the CALS community are invited to bring a lunch and join the discussion.
